Greetings Loyola Village Fine and Performing Arts (LoVE) Family.

Loyola Village is a FINE AND PERFORMING ARTS MAGNET school.  Our goal is to provide students with excellent teaching in the arts and academics.  In 2023-2024, students will know that they can be successful artists and academics that express themselves with integrity, presence, and affection (Credit: musicadocirculo.com).

This year, to support the arts here at LoVE, I will integrate elements of Música do Círculo (Circle Music) created by Pedro Consorte, Ronaldo Crispin, and Zuza Gonçalves from Brazil.  Música do Circulo is collective musical improvisation based on cycles that use singing, body percussion, and movement as resources structured around musical games.  These games are linked in flow of cooperation and dialogue and generate a circle of interaction, connection, and creativity where everyone is welcomed.

Our academic goals include partnership with students, parents, teachers, and the community.  We will continue to utilize the diagnostic platform iReady we started last year to further understand the specific needs of our students in Numeracy and Literacy.  We will strive to be strong communicators with our parents and students of our progress. We will also implement the district-provided reading program Core Knowledge Language Arts and supplement the program with literature that represents the culture and heritage of our student population.

Finally, we continue to correlate our goals with the Strategic Plan for LAUSD presented by the Board of Education and our Superintendent, Alberto Carvalho, which is comprised of five pillars: Academic Excellence, Joy and Wellness, Engagement and Collaboration, Operational Effectiveness, and Investing in Staff.

This is only possible if we are all true models of success for our students.  Thank you for your support and welcome to the new year.

Please join me in welcoming the newest members of our Loyola Village Fine and Performing Arts Family:
